Dear Writer,

Thank you so much for writing for me! I hope you're here because you love the characters I requested as much as I do, and would like to explore them more in fic. My prompts are only meant as an ideas springboard (especially some of my requests which include unconventional non-canon rarepairs), so don't feel obligated to follow them. And if you have better/more creative ideas, then as long as they don't hit any DNWs, you should go with what you're more excited to write.

In this letter, I denote romantic relationships with a slash (/) and platonic friendships with an ampersand (&).

Horror Likes:

For canons where I've requested Trick, I am explicitly opting in for graphic violence/gore if that's where your muse takes you. With the exception of sexual violence/sexual coercion, there is very little else that bothers me when reading horror. Go for the blood, the body horror, the creepy crawlies, the twisted/fucked-up villains, the unspeakable insanity-inducing eldritch horrors. Put the characters through the wringer, and then let them breathe and come out of it alive but shaken, happy and relieved to have survived the ordeal.

Smutty Likes:

My favourite type of smut is Porn with Feelings, especially as a resolution to pining/build-up of sexual tension. Romantic sex filled with praise, enthusiasm, and care is my jam - as is the characters simply having fun & enjoying themselves in their own unique ways, whether it's adventurous experimental sex or sex filled with banter. I have no preferences at all on the topic of top/bottom/switching (and am just as happy with non-penetrative sex being written), so go with whatever your heart desires.

Do Not Wants (DNWs):

  • Non-con (including role-play & threats of); Sex Without Attraction; Involuntary Exposure (e.g. leaked nudes, being walked in on during sex, etc.)
  • Permanent Major Character Death*; Unhappy Endings
  • Infidelity; Love Triangles; Unrequested Polyamory; Actually Unrequited Love.
  • Detailed depictions of conflict (internal & external) or bigotry due to race, religion, gender, or sexuality (brief canonical references are fine)
  • References to contemporary* real world political events & politicians, disasters, and tragedies (e.g. COVID-19, 9/11, 2016 US elections, etc.)

*DNW Clarifications: For my Permanent Character Death DNW: Sentient zombies, vampires, ghosts, resurrection, temporary death, depictions of mourning, all of that is fine by me as long as the characters don't come back wrong from a personality perspective. So if they come back as an eldritch horror, that's excellent fun! But I don't want them to become a mindless braaaains type zombie or turn evil when they used to be good.

For my contemporary RL events DNW, I am fine with fictional diseases or pandemics (as long as it isn't just a find-and-replace of events that happened in the COVID-19 timeline with a different pandemic name), fake politicians or elections, as well as references to historical events or political figures from longer than 50 years ago.

Lin Wanyue, Li Xian - Trick (Fic), Treat (Fic)

This super iddy novel with politics, identity porn, and pining just hit every spot I could want in this genre. So, a lot of my prompts are just going to be me pointing incoherently at canon and saying "More like this, please!"

Lin Wanyue pines so beautifully, so tragically and with so much thirst & enthusiasm. I love that she's intelligent when it comes to military strategy, but hopeless when it comes to the murky waters of politics and the darker side of human nature. Li Xian is exactly the cold/ruthless type with a hidden soft spot that I can't get enough of. I love that she's so competent and Machiavellian, and I adored her helpless attempts at denial that she's definitely not falling for Lin Wanyue and 100% does not see Lin Wanyue as anything but a pawn in her schemes.

General Prompts:

  • Rebuilding the Village: Snapshots of their lives post-canon, re-building Lin Wanyue's old village, meeting new people, just being peaceful and happy.
  • Underworld Adventures: I love the extra of Lin Wanyue and Li Xian give up their place in the reincarnation cycle just to spend eternity with each other in the underworld. I'll bet they could cause such havoc as the ghost general and her cunning strategist!
  • Past Lives: The mention of their past lives where they'd encountered each other but just barely missed getting together is so intriguing to me. I would love to explore what kind of people they were in the past and how they interacted. Some kind of dream reminiscence? Fragments of memories? A 5+1?
  • Ghost AU: What if Lin Wanyue hadn't survived her village's massacre? I can see her resentful spirit lingering on this earth until she's had her vengeance, and Li Xian deciding to make use of a supernatural pawn (maybe she's actually the one who summons Lin Wanyue's spirit for her own nefarious purposes?)

Lin Wanyue-centric Prompts

  • Soldier Life: I loved all the segments with her as a soldier, hiding her true gender, making friends, gaining followers, impressing people with her archery skills. Anything that explores missing scenes of this sort would be great!
  • Time Travel/Time Loop: There's so much tragedy & loss that happened at her military camp, so much of it due to scheming. If Lin Wanyue could re-do it, what would she do and could she succeed? What if it puts her up against Li Xian's plans?

Li Xian-centric Prompts

  • Cross-dressing AU: What if in order to protect her brother, Li Xian swaps places with him and cross-dresses as well? How does that change her interactions with Lin Wanyue?
  • Li Xian & her Shadow Guards: The level of unquestioniong loyalty from her shadow guards is so interesting to me combined with Li Xian's ability to emotionally manipulate people & use them as pawns. General interactions between Li Xian & her Shadow Guards over the years. Or maybe AU where Yu Wan stays around long enough to face the choice of keeping Lin Wanyue's secrets vs her loyalty to Li Xian?

Lin Wanyue/Li Xian Prompts

  • Hurt/Comfort: All those scenes of Li Xian taking care of a wounded Lin Wanyue. Especially Li Xian using her own hair to stitch up Lin Wanyue's wounds. I just love anything with Lin Wanyue being reckless about her own safety and Li Xian nursing her back to health after. Li Xian is always so guarded about showing any weaknesses that any occasion where she allows herself to relax and trust with Lin Wanyue holding and comforting her would be great too.
  • Loyalty Kink: Li Xian gets embroiled in a scheme and in a precarious political position, but she still has Lin Wanyue steadfastly believing and being on her side through it all.
  • Fake Dating/Fake Marriage: The two of them pretending to be a couple while on the run was great, and I'd love to see more scenarios of that. Maybe they're posing as a couple while investigating a mystery in a small town, and [plot reasons] mean they have to share a bed.
  • Pining While Married: For [reasons], they have to appear very outwardly in love, which amps up Lin Wanyue's pining.
  • Trust: There's so much deception and so many secrets in the lead-up to their relationship, I really love the trust that they have for each other by the end and would be interested to see an exploration of that. That scene in the extras where Lin Wanyue doesn't even hesitate to obey all of Li Xian's requests during Li Xian's seduction attempt was A+++ if you want to go in that direction. Alternately, does the trust they have ever get tested?

Gu Yiliang, Wei Yanzi - Treat (Fic)

This super meta, absolutely hilarious book about an actor falling into fandom and shipping himself with his co-star until they actually fall in love is like a balm on my soul. Wei Yanzi is possibly the most hilarious narrator I've read in a long time (his enthusiasm for fandom is so relatable), and Gu Yiliang is so sweet and kind. This book pretty much set the standard for romantic comedies for me. I also adore how much the author's love for fandom comes through. Like: yes fandom has a lot of OTT ridiculousness and drama, but it never feels mean-spirited or condescending like it does in a lot of mainstream meta depictions of fans.

For the prompts below, feel free to add Gu Yiliang/Wei Yanzi content to any of them and not just the shippy prompts. I love these two as a (disastrously funny) couple in any scenario, though I am also a fan of their pre-relationship shenanigans as well.

General Prompts:

  • Unconventional Formats: The meta premise of this book is really friendly to unconventional formats, so I'd be thrilled to see any of: shipper speculations, a sub-section of that giant 100+ page shipping manifesto, Lofter / Weibo / QQ / WeChat social media interactions, in-universe RPF fanfic, light-hearted fandom wars (i.e. about something petty and low-stakes, like that famous war of Orlando Bloom fans arguing over his favorite vegetable, not something too nasty or personal).
  • Variety Show Appearances: I love how creative and fun some of the Chinese variety show challenges can be, so I'd be all over any fics where either or both participate in a variety show. Room escape game? Murder mystery game? Or any game where they get to be silly. Or any game that shows off how hilariously bad Wei Yanzi's acting is. Or maybe Wei Yanzi's photographic memory comes in surprisingly handy somewhere.
  • Supernatural or Superpowers: Supernatural creatures (or people with superpowers) having to hide their identities while being in a very public role is always fun to me. Bonus if their superpowers are hilariously useless.
  • Crossovers: I would love any of my requested fandoms being crossed over (or written as a fusion) with ISMM, especially with Wei Yanzi as an outsider POV of the main pairings. For example, would Wei Yanzi write fix-it Wangxian fic for MDZS after the Siege of the Burial Mounds because this is definitely not the fluffy happy ending he wanted? Or what if he ended up in a different world with Gu Yiliang and they both struggle to adapt? I fear for their lives if they ever end up in Peerless or Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, but Wei Yanzi would do really well playing Glory in the King's Avatar. Or: imagine your OTP but with one of them replaced by Wei Yanzi. For example, the sheer oblivious dumbassery of Wei Yanzi/Shen Yuan (Shen Qingqiu) would be epic.

Gu Yiliang-centric Prompts:

  • Diary Entries: I just love his open, honest observations mixed with giddy happiness over being friends with Wei Yanzi. What bizarre or unusual thing did he see Wei Yanzi do again? What little things make him smile?
  • Oblivious Gu Yiliang: While he's not completely ignorant of the concepts of fanservice, he does seem unaware of the Niangzi Army, thinking of them as just peacekeepers/dove fans. How else does he misinterpret all the chaos going on around him, both online and offline?

Wei Yanzi-centric Prompts:

  • Fandom Newbie: Wei Yanzi trying (but not quite succeeding) at fitting in when joining the fanclubs' group chats, Wei Yanzi learning something new in the wild wild west of fanfiction, Wei Yanzi trying to (subtly) influence fandom characterization of himself, Wei Yanzi encountering his first abandoned WIP and coping with being left on a cliffhanger. There's so much you can play with here, so feel free to get more creative than me!
  • Photographic Memory: Wei Yanzi's photographic memory helps him with memorizing scripts, remembering Gu Yiliang's favorite foods, and is generally a handy skill to have. But with his deep dive into fandom, what happens when he mixes up fanon with canon/RL?

Gu Yiliang/Wei Yanzi Prompts:

  • Acting Lessons: Gu Yiliang offered Wei Yanzi acting lessons! Do they actually work, or is Wei Yanzi hopeless? What kind of scenes do they practice with?
  • Unofficial Shipping Fuel Competition: Wei Yanzi thinks that being the only one of the pair who actually is aware of fandom, he ought to be the main provider of shipping fuel. But Gu Yiliang keeps out-doing him without even trying. So the two of them end up in a silent, escalating competition of increasingly romantic gestures.
  • An On-Camera Kiss? Maybe in an AU where they sign on for a different show, they have to share an on-camera kiss. How much do they rehearse for it? Is Wei Yanzi oddly convincing in this scene?
  • Fake Dating: The popularity of the Niangzi army prompts their PR people to ask if they'd be willing to go beyond fanservice and fake date for publicity.
  • Outsider POV: I'm especially fond of Wei Yanzi's manager Xiao Chen (or Little Chen), but any outsider POV from their co-stars, fans or friends (mis)understanding their interactions would be fun. Do the people close to them assume they're already dating before they even realize it? Or are there still people who think they're rivals? I love what the ISMM audio drama did portraying the fan reactions to all the ship fuel these two provide (both the shippers and the non-shippers), so more of that would be great too.
  • Hilarious Sexual Experimentation: Come on. At some point, Wei Yanzi will definitely try out something he read in a fanfic once.
  • Exchange Shenanigans: Wei Yanzi signs up for or creates a fic exchange. This time, he will go against the fandom trends and write himself topping! As for whether he succeeds or not and whether he pulls in Gu Yiliang to help with the research...

Wen Ning - Trick (Fic), Treat (Fic)

How many ways can I express my love for this book? It has such a great cast of characters, heroes and villains and the shades of grey in between. I love how gory and brutal the battles and the monsters can be - I love that it opened with a mystery horror case of putting together a dismembered corpse. I can pretty much read a full novel of creepy monster mysteries.

Wen Ning is basically everything I love in a “monster" or supernatural character. He is so incredibly sweet and shy when he was alive, and his innate goodness still carries across when he’s been turned into a fierce corpse with sentience. Yet he is still the absolutely terrifying Ghost General with incredible strength, who when he loses control of his reason is all the more tragic because of how it’s against his kind nature.

General Prompts:

  • Creepy Monster Mysteries: Anything with Wen Ning & Friends (The junior trio? WWX & LWJ?) chasing down vengeful ghosts, solving strange happenings, fighting monsters & breaking curses while having each other’s backs would be my jam.
  • Time Travel/Time Loop: There are so many points in the story where a small decision can potentially different outcomes. What would Wen Ning do if he time traveled or got stuck in a time loop? What events would he try to change and would he succeed?
  • Slice of Life on the Burial Mounds: There was a period of time before it all went to hell where they got to focus on building a home on the Burial Mounds. Any snapshot/slice of life from that time exploring their grief and the concept of rebuilding would be really interesting to me!
  • Character Study: I'm interested in reading anything that reconciles his kind nature with the built-up resentment that made him such a powerful fierce corpse. His guilt towards his loss of control/deaths he inflicted and his struggles retaining sentience.
  • Undeserved Reputation: I'd love anything playing with Wen Ning's fearsome reputation vs his actual personality when he meets someone new (e.g. like that time he let himself be trapped on the boat by a bunch of harmless kids because he didn't want to risk hurting them).

Wen Ning & Wei Wuxian OR Wen Ning/Wei Wuxian

What I am most interested in is the loyalty and devotion these two have towards with each other, whether romantic or platonic, so feel free to write whichever version of the relationship you prefer! I love Wangxian, so if you write this platonically, I am more than happy to have Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji as a package deal in the background. If you decide to write Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning romantically, the easiest way to handle Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji's relationship without hitting my DNWs is to set it in a timeline pre-relationship, set it in an AU where Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are not a couple, or just sidestep/gloss over the ship altogether.

  • Loyalty Kink: Wen Ning is so loyal and devoted to Wei Wuxian that at the first sound of Wei Wuxian’s flute, he escapes his 13-year imprisonment with chains still attached to go after him. Wei Wuxian is so protective of Wen Ning and the Wen cultivators with him, standing up for him, looking for him and saving him when everyone thinks it’s not worth the effort for a couple of “Wen-dogs." I'd love anything exploring their loyalty to each other, the "us against the world" period of their lives at the Burial Mounds, having each other's backs during battle.
  • Light-Hearted Fun: I'm always here for the two of them just being happy and teasing each other too. Wen Ning every now and then shows a pretty funny deadpan side of himself that I'd love to see more.
  • Scary Adventures: The team-up of the Yiling Patriarch and the Ghost General is pretty damned powerful and terrifying. I'd love to see what kind of adventures could scare them or put them in danger and how they work together to overcome it.
  • Unscary Adventures: Despite their terrifying potential, most of the time, these two are just dorks who enjoy farming on the Burial Mounds. What kind of distinctly unscary things do they do in their regular lives? If an outsider sees them behaving in such uncharacteristic ways contrary to their reputations, what would their impressions be?
  • Hurt/Comfort: Wen Ning helping patch Wei Wuxian up after he gets hurt. It's pretty tough to hurt Wen Ning physically, but I'm sure he's occasionally starved for friendship/kindness that Wei Wuxian can offer.
  • Wei Wuxian's Core Surgery: The aftermath/recovery of Wei Wuxian’s core removal surgery in the mountains. What were Wen Ning’s thoughts as he watched this all go down? Wei Wuxian didn’t come to terms with his power loss easily. I’d love to see Wen Ning (and Wen Qing) talking him through that.

Wen Ning & Jiang Cheng OR Wen Ning/Jiang Cheng

Ever since the scene where Wen Ning (very uncharacteristically) gets confrontational with Jiang Cheng and drops the golden core revelation on him, I've been intrigued by the potentially explosive dynamics between two very different people who both care for Wei Wuxian in their own way. There's so much complicated history and emotions between them - Jiang Cheng's anger (possible jealousy?) of Wen Ning being the reason why Wei Wuxian left the Yunmeng Jiang Sect, Wen Ning's guilt for his part in Wei Wuxian's downfall, the aftermath of Jiang Cheng's part in the Burial Mounds siege, and the mutual resentment between them over the golden core secret/revelation - I'd love an exploration of any part of that complex history between the two of them.

  • Post-Canon: How does Jiang Cheng see and treat Wen Ning post-canon after the events in the Guanyin Temple? How would Wen Ning react if he discovered the reason why Jiang Cheng got captured and lost his core?
  • Canon Divergence: How would things change if Wen Ning interfered with the pursuit and Jiang Cheng wasn't caught by the Wen sect? What if Jiang Yanli discovered Jin Guangyao's ploy to send Jin Zixuan into an ambush and asked Jiang Cheng to pass on the warning?
  • Forced to Work Together: Circumstances force the two to work together. Maybe something mysterious/scary happened to Jin Ling? A typical night hunt gone wrong?
  • Wei Wuxian's Reactions: Especially if writing Wen Ning/Jiang Cheng, I think Wei Wuxian's reactions would be hilarious. Or maybe surprisingly touching. Maybe both!

Wen Ning & Wen Qing

  • Wen Ning's Resurrection: I'd love to see interactions between the siblings both prior to Wen Ning gaining sentience as a fierce corpse, and their conversation after he successfully gained sentience.
  • Surrender: From planning to incapacitate Wei Wuxian, to their trip to the Koi Towers, to the tragic ending - I'd love to read any snapshot of that journey.
  • Wen Qing Lives: She was the best healer/doctor in the entire powerful Wen Clan. Surely she was more useful alive than dead? And we never did see a body. I'd love any AU where Wen Ning finds her again either during or after the events in canon.
  • Sibling Shenanigans: Set during happier times or a rare moment of light-heartedness later on - What are their interactions like when it's just the two of them being siblings - do they annoy each other, tease each other, or something else?

Wen Ning & The Junior Trio

  • Cool Uncle Wen Ning: Adventures night hunting, taking care of the juniors, his presence gradually being accepted by the Gusu Lan Sect (after all, at least his excursions don't end in guaranteed havoc and detention for everyone unlike a certain Wei Wuxian). Or maybe it's the perfect storm when Wei Wuxian & Lan Wangji join in the fun as well.
  • Mentor Wen Ning: This can either be humorous or a more serious take, but I like the idea that once Wen Ning comes out of his shell with the juniors, he becomes a surprisingly good source of steady advice and support.
  • Wen Ning & A-Yuan Reunited: How do the juniors react when they learn about Wen Ning & A-Yuan's past? I'd love any interactions with just Wen Ning & A-Yuan as well, where they grieve together for the people they lost on the Burial Mounds, and lean on each other when moving on.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint | 전지적 독자 시점

Read: English Translation (551/551)

Kim Dokja - Trick (Fic), Treat (Fic)

This novel is probably one of my top favorite takes on the "reader transmigrates into a book" trope. I love how it goes very heavy into the meta concept of the reader, the writer, and the story - drawing influences from history and mythology - and really digs into the cognitive dissonance of being transported into a fictional world, and what separates a character vs a person.

There are a lot of characters I love in this book, but Kim Dokja holds a special place in my heart because of how relatable his love for reading is. I adore how his first instinct on encountering something dangerous is to sacrifice himself for his friends, I love how self-deprecating he is, and I love how he refuses to accept the limitations of the world & system when finding his story's ending.

General Prompts

  • Kim Dokja's Company Ruins Your Favorite Myth or Legend - The arc where Kim Dokja & Co. re-write (and ruin in the most hilarious way) Journey to the West is the absolute highlight of this book for me, and I'd love to see an AU where Kim Dokja's Company take on another myth/legend/famous story. How will Kim Dokja's friends change the story so that he's forced to do nothing and finally take a damned vacation? Can they miscast Yoo Joonghyuk even more badly than they did when they cast him as Zhu Bajie?
  • Nebula Naming - I want to read all about Yoo Joonghyuk's failed attempts to name their Nebula to anything except Kim Dokja's Company. Do any of the others come up with anything more creative as well?
  • Reader's Influence - We know that Kim Dokja's comments have influenced the direction of the novel before, and I'd love to see this explored more - what other things, whether small or large, did he inadvertently change in this world?
  • Creepy, Horror Scenarios - Haunted Mansion? Zombie Apocalypse scenario? Some sort of scenario where people have to confront their worst fears? Tentacled eldritch horrors are canon already, but I wouldn't mind more exploration or confrontations against them.
  • Dungeons & Dragons - An AU where the events in the novel are part of a gritty, brutal DnD campaign would be so much fun to read about. Is Kim Dokja the helpless DM faced with Yoo Joonghyuk who just keeps re-rolling the exact character each time he dies? Or is Kim Dokja the meta-gaming munchkin who somehow keeps rolling nat 20s on his death saves much to DM Han Sooyoung's disbelief?

Kim Dokja & Yoo Joonghyuk

The absolute highlight of this book for me is the slow-burn rivals-to-friends relationship between Kim Dokja & Yoo Joonghyuk. They start off grudgingly using each other for pragmatic reasons, while thinking very little of the other person. Over the course of the events, they eventually come to trust and admire each other (still grudgingly of course) until they would willingly die for each other. ("Only I can kill him!" is literally my favorite trope in this type of dynamic, and Yoo Joonghyuk actually declares this at one point!)

  • The 0th Round - Any missing scenes or adventures featuring the Demon King of Salvation & Yoo Joonghyuk's first, original life.
  • 999th's Yoo Joonghyuk - I love this version of Yoo Joonghyuk, especially his adorable murim dumpling form. More cute and hilarious interactions between the two would be great.
  • Identity Theft - More adventures of Kim Dokja & Yoo Joonghyuk performing feats of heroism (or not-so-heroic feats) while pretending to be the other person.
  • Confrontation/Communication - I know these two aren't the greatest communicators (it cracks me up that Han Sooyoung literally gave her life just so these two would finally have a chance to communicate... and they instead chose to duke it out in a fight instead.) - but I'd love to get more of an explicit confrontation or resolution to Yoo Joonghyuk struggling with Kim Dokja's identity as a reader who watched and cheered on his suffering in the book, and Kim Dokja coming to terms with the fact that the fictional characters who were a comfort and escape are all too real, and then talk about it with each other in their special failboat ways.

Kim Dokja/Yoo Joonghyuk

Everything about why I love these two as friends who'd die for each other is exactly why I love them as a romantic ship as well.

  • Life and Death Companions - Kim Dokja & Yoo Joonghyuk discover that there's more to their Life and Death Companions story: Accidental soulbond? Accidental marriage? A sudden revelation when their Life & Death Companion story begins playing while they're on a totally-not-a-date? The possibilities are endless!
  • Matchmaking In-Laws - Canon divergence where Hades and Persephones continue their match-making attempts, landing quite logically on Yoo Joonghyuk as Kim Dokja's potential spouse.
  • Prophecy - Incarnation Kim Dokja will be killed by the person he loves most. What if Yoo Joonghyuk didn't turn around and leave when they were about to use the Affection Reader on him to discover the identity of the person Kim Dokja loves the most?
  • Uriel's POV - As the biggest Kim Dokja/Yoo Joonghyuk shipper in the novel, I'd love to get her outsider POV on what it was like to watch them. Or maybe she can give them both a personal quest?

Cui Buqu, Feng Xiao - Trick (Fic), Treat (Fic)

This book is so tropey and iddy, and it's everything I never knew I wanted about a rivals-to-lovers pairing. Mystery solving, cross-dressing, undercover as a couple, fake marriage, fake make-outs, hilarious bickering, and two ruthlessly competent characters who despite their differences are on equal grounds when it comes to scheming & plotting. And most of all, I love how hard they fell for each other, and how equally hard they're denying that they have any feelings for each other (all while risking their lives for each other and taking care of each other).

I love Cui Buqu's tenacity, his unwilling to go away, and how he's fearless despite not having any martial arts skills because he can out-wit his opponent and succeed. I love Feng Xiao's shameless confidence in himself, his constant showboating, and the depths he hides beneath his boasting.

General Prompts:

  • Political Scheming - Cui Buqu & Feng Xiao end up entangled in the dynastic struggles. I'm especially interested in the ways Second Prince Yang Guang schemed against Crown Prince Yang Yong to overthrow him in actual history, and would be intrigued to see how Feng Xiao & Cui Buqu might choose (or choose not to) ally themselves in this fictional history.
  • Creepy Supernatural Investigations - demons wearing their victims' skins, ghosts haunting a noble's house, bloodline curses, anything spooky that Cui Buqu & Feng Xiao have to investigate!
  • Petty Rivalry Shenanigans - Zuoyue Bureau vs Jiejian Bureau, Cui Buqu vs Feng Xiao, and the pettiest ways they make life difficult for each other.
  • Verbal Sparring - I would read 10k words of nothing happening except Cui Buqu and Feng Xiao insulting each other and trying to dig verbal pits for each other in increasingly creative ways and still not get tired of it.

Cui Buqu-centric Prompts

  • Journey to the Top - I'd love any snapshots or stories of Cui Buqu before he became the Zuoyue Bureau's Commander, how he pulled himself up from the bottom through sheer determination, ruthlessness and scheming.
  • The Cui Family - I loved the confrontation he had with the Cui family in the book, and I'd love some exploration of some possible fall-out/repercussions from his actions. Maybe his actions catch a more powerful branch's attention? Or his political enemies catch wind of it and use it against him?

Feng Xiao-centric Prompts

  • Feng Xiao's Beauty Routine - I love his fussiness and his infatuation with his own looks. So what's the daily beauty routine of the peerless Feng Xiao like?
  • Managing the Jiejian Bureau - Five times Feng Xiao cut Pei Jingzhe's salary for Legitimate(TM) reasons and one time he cut Pei Jingzhe's salary just for fun.

Cui Buqu/Feng Xiao Prompts

  • Illness - Feng Xiao takes care of Cui Buqu during a flare-up of his illness. Not that he cares or is worried or anything.
  • Illusions/Nightmares - Whether through illusion arrays or magical incense or (insert plot device here), I'd love it if they both got trapped in their fantasies or nightmares (or perhaps fittingly, a nightmare fantasy scenario earlier on in their relationship where they end up in a sexual illusion with each other).
  • Marriage Proposal - I have no doubts their eventual marriage proposal would end up being a competition too.
  • Fake Enemies - The canon gives us so much fake dating, but what about the opposite? They have to pretend to hate each other's guts, which sounds like the easiest thing in the world, except...?
  • Overthrowing a Dynasty, nbd - Canon divergence where Cui Buqu makes good on his word to overthrow the Southern Dynasty in return for saving Feng Xiao's life.

Ye Xiu - Trick (Fic), Treat (Fic)

This book basically ate an entire month of my life and I have zero regrets. It is so incredibly entertaining, with a huge cast, and so much multi-shipping material. I love that even though Ye Xiu is an almost unstoppable force, he still has to earn all his victories. And I love all the friendly (and some not-so-friendly) rivalries in-game, as well as the out-of-game friendships. I don't think there are any characters I dislike, so feel free to include as many or as little other characters into the ensemble as you want!

General Prompts:

  • Glory! Becomes Real. Dungeons and world bosses suddenly appear in real-life, and everyone becomes their Glory! characters. With the stakes higher than ever, the pro players have to work together to undo the spell and restore the real world to its original state.
  • Artificial Intelligence AU. Maybe someone runs into a particularly intelligent NPC or enemy in-game. Or maybe one of the players is an AI, struggling to fit in as a human. What about a rogue AI wreaking havoc in the game?
  • Halloween Events: What could this year's event be? A murder mystery? Monster hunt? How does Ye Xiu troll people in new creative ways? For a spookier take, what if the events in-game start being mirrored in real life?

Ye Xiu-Centric Prompts

  • New Alts: The only thing I like more than Ye Xiu going undercover with a new alt are his new alts' ridiculous names. Lots of potential for identity porn in this scenario.
  • Ye Xiu & Happy Guild: I always enjoy Ye Xiu's adventures in game, but I especially love it when he takes time to mentor and lead his guild members into battle against wild bosses or new dungeons.
  • Ye Xiu & Team Happy: Found family feelings! I'd love to read about any unusual training exercises they invent, the whole team hanging together, or any exploration of Ye Xiu's dynamics with individual team members.
  • Ye Xiu & Game Newbies: I love Ye Xiu stumbling onto promising newbies that he helps become successful, especially if they turn out to be very unconventional players. Imagine Ye Xiu playing the game being followed by a whole group of chaotic players like Steamed Bun Invasion!
  • Coach Ye Xiu: Post-canon/post-retirement coach Ye Xiu shenanigans!
  • Ye Xiu & Ye Qiu: So much potential for trolling with twin shenanigans! Especially if Ye Qiu is unwittingly pulled into Ye Xiu's pranks.

Shippy Prompts

Ye Xiu is the little black dress of the fandom for me, and I think I could be convinced to ship him with just about anyone. I've listed a few pairings below for prompts which are pairings I have ideas for, but I'd be open to other ships as well. Feel free to also include/combine any of these pairings with my other prompts.

  • Ye Xiu/Zhou Zekai: The very definition of competence porn. They can commiserate over their dislike for doing PR, build something off their mutual respect and competitiveness. Zhou Zekai is much more low-key than Ye Xiu, so I feel like his trolling gets underestimated, but he could go head-to-head with Ye Xiu there too I think. (Ye Xiu is ultimately more shameless and dirty though.)
  • Ye Xiu/Blue River: Blue River's life is so hard, he can't escape Ye Xiu and the inevitable disasters Ye Xiu brings with him. I'd love to read about the moment (or the progression) of Blue River's exasperation with Ye Xiu turning to fondness and then maybe more? (Then Ye Xiu turns the game world upside down and Blue River wonders what came over him...)
  • Ye Xiu/Huang Shaotian: Ye Xiu taunting/provoking Huang Shaotian into his rants and enjoying it way too much. Competitive trash talking. TREES.
  • Ye Xiu/Su Muqiu: Anything about their earlier days together, Ghost!Su Muqiu visits Ye Xiu in the present day, Su Muqiu lives on in-game via consciousness transfer. This pairing is an exception to my Permanent Major Character Death DNW if you want to stick to canon, but I'd still prefer if the fic ended in a hopeful/open/acceptance of grief note rather than be a sad, unhappy ending.
  • Ye Xiu/Qiao Yifan: I love mentor/student ships, so I'd love anything with Qiao Yifan's hero worship eventually changing into something more romantic, with bonus points for pining.
  • Ye Xiu/Han Wenqing: The intensity of their in-game rivalry would definitely spill over to the bedroom, right?

The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System | 人渣反派自救系统

Read: English Translation (96/96)

System - Trick (Fic), Treat (Fic)

This book is so hysterically funny and meta, and while your guard is lowered from the laughing, it stabs at you with knives and feelings. Shen Qingqiu is such a funny (but oblivious) protagonist, Luo Binghe is a beautiful pining yandere, the System is an amazing troll, and I love the depth that all the extras gave the side characters. I'm requesting the System for this exchange because I'd love to see the world-building & logic behind the transmigrations, punishments, and points fleshed out. I love POVs from sentient AIs who inherently think differently from humans. And I'm interested to see events from the System's POV and what it thinks of the characters and plot.

I'm only looking at gen for the System itself, but other ships I enjoy include Luo Binghe/Shen Qingqiu, Liu Qingge/Shen Qingqiu, Original Shen Qingqiu/Yue Qingyuan, Shang Qinghua/Mobei-Jun, Liu Mingyan/Sha Hualing.

Prompts:

  • System Backstory: What events/hosts influenced it to become the way it is now? Maybe during its first mission as a simple naive system, it was much kinder to its host? How long has it been doing this?
  • Virus Infection: One day, Shen Qingqiu notices something wrong with the system. How did the virus infect the system? Is there a wider conspiracy in play?
  • System Revealed: Through some kind of glitch, the System is somehow revealed to the characters in Proud Immortal Demon Way. How do those characters interact with or react to the presence of this strange but powerful entity? Does Shen Qingqiu try to hide it?
  • System Swap: Like a body swap, but suddenly one day, Shen Qingqiu discovers a different voice in his head.
  • Side Quests: I always thought it'd be fun if the system also gave out optional/unique side quests. Maybe it can be for some fun cosmetic rewards, or (more likely) some kind of monkey's paw reward that looks good but has a catch.
  • Canon Divergences: What if the system wasn't just in charge of transmigration, but also reincarnation and time travel? Who would it choose in Proud Immortal Demon Way to entertain itself? Maybe in a mad scientist way, it throws the time travellers & reincarnators & transmigrators all together and watches them fight?
  • Other Worlds: It's time for the System to move onto another world. But it's always been able to choose the transmigrators. What if it got attached to Shen Yuan or some of the other characters in PIDW? I'd love to see what kind of creative choices this troll System can come up with to put the PIDW characters in that maximizes their annoyance.
  • Recursive Transmigration: The System's next world is... one of Liu Mingyan's best-selling novels? This would be really fun to combine with the "author transmigrates into their own book" trope.
  • World-Building: Who or what governs the Systems? Does the System have supervisors? Or something more vague like Asimov's Laws of Robotics? Their own rules and punishments? Do systems have friends? Rivals who might sabotage their worlds?
  • Rebellion: The System has had enough of all the terrible novels. What does it do to show its displeasure? And how does this (inevitably) cause trouble for Shen Qingqiu?
  • Rescue: Maybe when a transmigrator/host does badly enough, the world they inhabit can collapse on itself. System + Shen Qingqiu (+Others? Maybe Airplane Bro?) are dispatched as an emergency rescue team.
  • Modern Transmigration: What if one of the PIDM characters transmigrated into the modern world and meet Shen Yuan? Would they be tougher or easier to handle for the System? What kind of mission would the System give them?
